The first time I saw some of the Stuart figures, I was a very young girl visiting the Ventura Historical Museum (I grew up in Ventura).
I just remembered them the other day, so found this website, and was thrilled to see how many Mr. Stuart has created in the years since I first saw his works! They are breathtaking.

I just happened on your site and wanted to say how unbelievably beautiful your figures are!!! I wish the completion date of the figures were given. It would be nice to the the progression of your work. I will have to make some trips to see some your figures in person - I'm a history buff. Thank you for sharing.

This has brought back wonderful memories of my childhood. My grandmother, Kay Root and my mother Judy Clements used to work for Mr. Stuart many yrs ago. Then they became good friends and we would always take Christmas treats to him. He was always a joy to listen too. Yes, even as a young girl I loved his stories.

I was looking for something else and found your site and your outstanding work!!! I was a doll maker, and dream of one day doing it again. I've saved pictures, props, fabric, etc. to one day pick up the craft again, and you have now inspired me to follow my dream of making "little people" again. I have never seen such beautiful, perfect pieces as yours. Finding your site has been like the first time I went to Madame Tussaud's, which is my favorite place on earth. I am looking forward to reading more about you and your work, and I hope to one day see your figure in person.

Gorgeous Gorgeous Gorgeous.

One of the figures, however, is puzzling to me. Anne Boleyn died at the age of between 29 - 35, (1501/07-1536)but the mannequin wearing her costume looks to be a matronly woman anwhere from her late 40' to early 60's. Why is that? Anne was a young woman when she was executed.
Henry VIII, on the other hand, is an excellent likeness in his later years. Bravo!!

Wonderful pieces, sir; however, I think you've put a bit too much rouge on "Priny's" (George IV's) lips. Do you have a version of his brother, King William "The Sailor King" IV, my favorite British monarch, based on the painting by Sir Martin Archer Shee or other?

Your figures are absolutely gorgeous and interesting. I hope one day I will become as good as you are. You are not teaching your way of creating your dolls, by the way ?

The figures are amazing! the whole website is fascinating. What I like the most is that there is a historical notation after each character and that you include some books on them to learn more about them. The French Ancien regime characters are especially awesome.

One note: on the Phillipe d Orleans, "Monsieur" figure(the figure itself is beyond exquisite and looks like some portraits I have seen of him at Versailles and the Prado!) on the learn more about them part, you have included books not specifically about him, but rather about some of his descendants*. For completeness sake, you could add the classic biography in English about Monsieur which is Brother to the Sun King by Nancy Barker, which is also available on Amazon.com and is about him as opposed to his family members.

*you have the number of Monsieur's children wrong as well--he had 4 children live to adulthood(a few others died in infancy). His French descendants were the subsequent Ducs of Orleans as you noted AND also all French kings after Louis XIV descend from him as well because Louis XV's mother was a granddaughter of Monsieur who married a grandson of Louis XIV. Further, Monsieur's line took over the throne with Louis Philippe,a duc of Orleans who became King of the French after Charles X's reign. Monsieur was also the ancestor of Marie Antoinette and the rest of Habsburg-Lorraine Holy Roman Emperors/Austrian Emperors family as the husband of Empress Maria Theresa was a grandson of Monsieur. In fact,in a bizarre twist of fate, most of the Roman Catholic royalty in Europe had/has some descent from the homosexual Monsieur!
